Varicose veins during labour

I have quite bad vulval varicose veins and I am frightened about pushing putting extra presssure on them; even going to the toilet now causes pain. Is there anything I can do? Even positions in labour that I can adopt that will lessen the strain on this area?
Last time I wanted to put my hand down and hold it all in!

Answer: Hi, Yes you can apply pressure if you want. Also ice packs may help. It can be uncomfortable but usually the pushing phase is quite quick. You will find that your body will take over. Best wishes, Alex.
